My Winter Workout: daily push-ups, sit-ups and pull-ups

What is your plan for working out this winter?

This winter I am staying healthy by riding my bike 12 miles 5 times a week and doing push-ups, sit-ups and pull-ups before my morning routine.

I broke my collar bone in a biking accident in September so I’m still doing rehab. I’ve always been pretty wimpy at push-ups and pull-ups… and I always hate sit-ups. Here is my “doable” plan:

1. My daily goal is 100 push-ups, 100 sit-ups and 50 pull-ups. (I needed a large, impossible goal I could brag about.)

2. For push-ups, I do 4 sets of 25 that are 45-degree push-ups. (I am not strong enough to do them on the ground so I lean against my bathroom counter at a 45-degree angle.)

3. For pull-ups, I do 4 sets of 13 while resting my legs on a stool (I am not strong enough to do them without a cheater.)

4. For sit-ups, I do 4 sets of 25 on the floor doing 4 different styles that stress my upper and lower abs.

I can do all of this in just 20 minutes before I take my shower. This is “week 3” and I’m still sticking with it, I’m looking and feeling more toned and my wife says she can see the difference!

So… what is your plan for working out this winter?
